I don't know how meaningful these numbers are but the listings at tvguide.com allow users to weigh in on what they plan on watching that evening. As you'll see the samples are very small but if we compare them to similar offerings the results are interesting.

Keep in mind these are the numbers at 1:30 EST, they will likely rise later on when people get home from school and work.

8:00 PM "Wizards of Waverly Place" (new episode) 44 watching

8:30 PM "A.N.T. Farm" (new episode) 20 watching

9:00 PM "Jessie" (new episode - obviously) 20 watching

I can't believe that "Jessie" only has as many watchers as "A.N.T. Farm" which is such a goofy and poorly written show. I was kind of hoping it would have at least been in the 40's or 50's. I've observed SLOD re-runs that have had 50-60 watching. I know that most DC viewers aren't going to go to tvguide.com and cast their vote for what their watching but still. :(

I hope the official ratings are much better than what tvguide.com is indicating. I really want this show to be a HUGE success not only for Debby and Pamela but also for us older DC fans so we have something cool to watch in addition to "So Random".

As of 6:00 PM EST it's looking a little better for "Jessie". I certainly wouldn't expect "Jessie" to beat Wizards. Not only does Wizards have an extremely established fanbase but even I have to admit that Selena is probably 4 to 5 times (if not more) popular than Debby. As a Debby superfan that's hard to admit but it's the reality of situation and I would be living in fantasyland if I didn't acknowledge that. So without any further comments here's the updated numbers.

8:00 PM "Wizards of Waverly Place" (new episode) 52 watching

8:30 PM "A.N.T. Farm" (new episode) 25 watching

9:00 PM "Jessie" (new episode - obviously) 34 watching

I'm not too worried about Jessie in the ratings. I'm not sure how I feel about Debby as the star though. Usually the stars Disney picks have some vocal talent/aspirations of a musical career/both. If Debby is deemed not good enough for music or if she decides not to do more than "hobby" recordings, that's one less arena she can dominate/be marketed in.

Luis,

Dude, don't be ridiculous. The Sprouse twins were among the most successful stars DC ever had and they didn't sing, same with Brenda Song. Debby has already commented that she doesn't have aspirations to become a recording artist and personally I applaud her for recognizing her limitations in that area. What Debby may lack in musical talent she MORE than makes up for in her acting/comedic abilities which in my opinon go FAR beyond virtually any other DC star that has come before her.

The Sprouse Twins weren't looked at by Disney because they were charismatic teenage females, they were looked at because they were twins. As far as Brenda Song, have you ever noticed that she has hardly had any leading roles? It's not easy to market her either, because she went into SLOZ&C as one of the older actors on Disney and because she doesn't record music. She did share top billing in some movies, but that's about all.

I just want Debby to exceed all expectations and be way up there among the Disney golden girls in as many of the usual areas as possible: movies, TV, music, books, etc.

Luis,

No one wants more success for Debby than I do but at the same time we all need to realize that Debby's primary talent is as an actress/comedian and that she is NOT a true triple threat. Besides Raven, Miley Cyrus and possibly Vanessa Hudgens (before she ruined her career with the nude photo scandal) how many true triple threats has DC had? Think about it. Bridgit can act and sing but she can't dance. Bella Thorne is a reasonably good dancer but she can't act her way out of a paper bag and couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle on it. Selena isn't such good dancer but is an excellent actress and pretty good singer. The list goes on and on but the fact is very few of them are true triple threats.

The next true triple threat is probably China Ann McClain but I think the jury is still out on her acting abilties because "A.N.T. Farm" kind of stinks so it's not fair to judge her acting skills based on that show.

That sounds about right. :D

And it will be a few days before we get the ratings but as I said before I don't expect it to be an instant hit.

It's gonna take some time for "Jessie" to be the hit that I think it can be. I think the biggest mistake would be to compare it to its competitors on opening night. What I would do is compare it to the other opening episodes of other DC hits.

That's what I've been saying. It will be a big hit but not for a while still.

Perhaps you guys are right about it taking time but I'm happy the first episode seems to have been VERY positively received and by most accounts has met or exceeded everyone's expectations. :)

Go Debs! I love you. :D
