If Debby were to release a new album, what genre would you like?

I personally thought she would make a great country singer. Plus, the little clip we heard on One Day Wonders is proof of that. She would waste her talent and not get much attention if she was just another Disney Pop artist, no offense to Selena Gomez. I remember reading on her website actually that said she has always had a love for country music and maybe someday she would write one of her own. That'd be pretty cool. From the clip we heard, I thought her voice sounded great. I would like to hear some more from her before I make my final decision. But like I said earlier, if she were to release that single on iTunes I would buy it in a heartbeat.

as for a genre I would have to say that country would be great!!! but a more "gritty" pop or rock-ish genre would not be bad either.



But, first and foremost Debby IS NOT an artist. She is an actress. DC has had the great ability to find stars that can not just act,but can sing and maybe even dance as well.

Debby is not really one of those....she is basically just an actress that can sing if she needs to..but her abilities in acting are pretty much limitless!

we see her play a funny but mature nanny in Jessie and saw a her play a GREAT "country" girl that made you smile. We have also see her play a mean diva in "The haunting hour" which I thought was an amazing performance! and we will get to see her play a recovering drug addict on Thursday in Private Practice...she is continuing to push her acting boundaries and I would honestly rather see her do that than pursue making a full album:)


One thing I believe she is VERY gifted in is writing...and I could see her writing a bunch of song for other artists.

I love Debby with all my heart and soul but she doesn't have what it takes to be a signed artist. Debby has stated that music is a hobby for her. As someone who does work in the music industry I can tell you that is a healthy and realistic outlook on her part. Now if you want to talk about acting Debby is EXCEPTIONALLY talented but when it comes to music she just doesn't have that X-Factor.

I think that if Debby were to "go country" I think she would run into what I call the "Taylor Swift backlash". Many country fans are sick of the pop country that is currently being made and place Taylor squarely in front of that. Look at iCarly's Jennette McCurdy. If you have ever had the pleasure to hear her sing, she has a great voice. Her two singles have had some to little airplay and I think they are both good. My opinion as to why they didn't get played in rotation is because nobody wanted to see another blonde-haired teen girl coming in and singing, regardless of talent. I think those would be the kind of odds that Debby would face, and her singing ability is far under Jennette's.

I totally agree with you pwfan, JMac has some serious vocal skills but the song choices are mediocre and she isn't being promoted well.

Part of that was me venting my frustrations about Jennette's lack of musical success. You would think that if your album was produced by a member of Rascal Flatts that you would get some more airplay.

We work with signed artists that are exceptionally talented and very nice people and for whatever reason(s) just aren't accepted by the music loving public as they should be. Sometimes it's just bad timing other times the it's lack of promotion from the label.

Look at Ashley Tisdale for instance. She's not Grammy material but she certainly talented enough to make records. Her first album did pretty well while her second one totally tanked. It's hard to explain but I think the pubic has to be "hungry" for the type of music you do at the exact time it's released.

By the way, I'm still hoping for a third album from Ashley. I'm definitely a fan.

I understand that's how it goes sometimes, but it is extremely frustrating as a fan to know how talented somebody is and them get ZERO promotion and airplay.

I know, right? I'm not much of a Taylor Swift fan besides the fact that she's somewhat attractive. But yeah, I agree about Jennette. She's a pretty talented singer and she's the only actress that has done something out of the ordinary and did country music and has really expressed her talent in that. If she did Pop then she probably would have lost my respect. Debby on the other hand couldn't be any less talented than her.

And finally, this is just me but I've always thought that Selena would make a good country artist as well.

I suggest you search Google for a reputable audiologist in your area. If you think Debby is anywhere near as talented at singing as Jennette then you definitely need your ears checked.
