Hi there! I’m Debby Ryan. I’ve been an actor since I was thirteen – I’ve had the immense pleasure of creating TV shows and movies in which every story has a beginning, middle and end. But we all know, life isn’t like that. There are so many experiences in my life I haven’t gotten into because I didn’t feel like the media was the best place to open up about them. But this feels like a really great place for me to sit down with some incredible, smart and interesting people that I’ve met through my work and have those meaningful conversations with. Each week, I’m going to sit down with another guest as we try to be fully open and honest with each other and hopefully learn a thing or two along the way.

Episode 2 | Kimmy Shields

Kimmy Shields [Ad Astra, Big Little Lies, Arrested Development, Insatiable] is an American actress. Kimmy sits down with her dear friend Debby to talk about female friendships, her favorite scene to shoot in Season 2 of Insatiable, and the joy of working on an inclusive set. She also tells Debby what playing Nonnie has taught her and how she wishes she could have been more like her when she was in high school. Debby and Kimmy talk about some of the toughest scenes to shoot and how having good friends on set and off can be extremely important.

Michael Provost [Insatiable, Shameless, Lucifer] is an American actor. Michael and Debby both talk about their audition experience for Insatiable and how landing the show was a life changing experience for him. They also discuss how Insatiable flipped the male gaze and made Michael an example for young men everywhere while taking off his shirt. Debby and Michael talk about the importance of content and respect in relationships and how his character, Brick, is trailblazing a new version of a TV hot guy.
